I felt the goodbye when we hugged. The strength in his arms as if that was the last bit of him he had to give me. I realized as I was walking away that in holding on as tight as he
did — was really just him letting go.

Sleeping next to someone,
not with someone, is perhaps
the most intimate you will
ever be with another human.
In sleep, we are completely
defenseless. We are soft
and supple and childlike.
Our hard exteriors falls away
when the sand hits our eyes.
The way you sleep, with your
face softened and your arms
wrapped around my waist,
is the most beautiful thing
I have ever seen. I am not an
artist, but I may become one
just so that I can capture that
moment.

The Radio Dept

It’s amazing sometimes what music does to our minds. I am revisiting one of my favourite bands from BooksActually - The Radio Dept, and my mind is just drifting, drifting. I smell BooksActually and I remembered what it was like back then, just sitting in the bookstore, leading a simple life that seemed so detached from the world. Just sitting, hammering, sorting, listening…not worrying what the outside was like. I am (kind of) sick of my “work life” and “Masters work” and wish I could have a little boutique and just sit, listen, be slow, and take each day as it is. There is joy in a life like that too, right?
